[It's just a few hours until the grand opening of Club Rapier and Genesis' nerves were on fire making sure everything was perfect from the very beginning. So Riku's message comes at a rather bad time. Despite that, though-- despite the way his shoulders were terribly tense now, especially as he is reminded of the assault in his own home, he does his best to keep a diplomatic face.
He takes a deep breath before answering.]
It is all right. To be fair, I also had no excuse attacking your friend either. I was also caught up in a cloud of anger. And for that, I sincerely apologize. I've apologized to your friend, too.
[He appreciates the deep breath, though it does let him know that perhaps is a bad time to be having this conversation. So he'll let Genesis be the one to determine the length of it.]
Thanks. For apologizing to Caden as well. I'm aware it wasn't your fault either... and I shouldn't have attacked you as I did. [More threats and emotional barrage than anything physical.]
Forgiven. [Not so simple as that word would suggest, but he wants him to know he's not holding it against him any longer.]
Genesis. [He's not in the position to be saying this, but he has to. Come what may.] Please help Zexion.
[The moment he says the last three words, though, Genesis finds himself letting go of every thought regarding Club Rapier in the meantime. His first impulse is to ask "what for?" but he quickly considers the response callous, as if Zexion's needs weren't so important to him. So, instead, he responds with a careful tone:]
[He'd be lying to himself if he said he wasn't glad the man responded to those last three words. It meant, for him, that his actions hadn't yet don't irreparable damage to something he had initially fostered.
Still... it's a loaded question and his breath comes out in suggestion of that truth.]
Keep showing him that there are people out there who care about him. [Like that's something "easily" done.] You've done more good for Zexion in these past weeks than he's done for himself in ten years of research.
[Genesis somehow finds it hard to believe, considering how terrible a man he was, with how easy his jealousy was to provoke. Ever since Zexion left with Riku that one morning, he had been thinking that he had been pushing Zexion into their relationship.
But even so, he had gone to him to reconcile, and now they live together. The way he feels for him may not be as passionate as they once were, but they're still there. They feel like an itch to him, as he had been trying his best not to touch Zexion too much.]
[Some of this stuff would be easier to talk about in person; he can do and show things to back up what he says. But for now, that can wait for another time. Hearing Genesis' voice tells him he's got something else to talk about first.]
I talked with Zexion a while back. He was worried--[Using that term very lightly here.]--about his feelings being a lie. Feelings he had for people.
Nobodies aren't "supposed" to "worry" about their feelings, or what their feelings could do to another person. But, I'm convinced that's a lie.
He spent ten years believing that lie. His relationship with you is helping him see through it. [This is mostly Riku's stubborn speculation, reporting on what he sees and believes, but it's the truth as far as he's concerned.]
[Genesis is a bit surprised upon hearing Riku call what they have between each other a relationship. But he supposed that if he had spoken with Cadence, he would have known that he did have feelings for the young researcher.]
[He's not sure how much Genesis knows about Zexion, their world, or the things that went into a relationship. But he trusts the man's judgement on knowing where he stands and what he wants to know.]
Zexion died, Genesis. I don't want him to waste a second chance.
[That said, he stands and heads for the window, allowing the SOLDIER to take that as closure or open any questions he may have. He's made his call, apologized, explained, and offered help for the future. Life moved on.]
[He'll take those words with a silent affirmation. He knows the feeling of living a second chance. And it seems as if his relationship with Zexion has become something more than just his own selfish need for someone to love, his own selfish desire for someone who made him burn inside every time he came across him.
Never would he have thought that a relationship would be a key to something more.]
