Genesis Rhapsodos here. What do you need me for?

[From his voice alone, Genesis was expecting to see an earnest backwater expert. It wasn't something he was prejudiced against, though. Despite how he sounded refined and high-class over the network, his roots were in the countryside and his closest allies were, well, earnest backwater experts.

Thus, when Genesis finally sees him, rising to his feet to take his hand and give it a firm shake, he couldn't help but beam widely. He could tell this man was going to be someone he could rely on. There was something about him (perhaps the scruff, or it could be the down-to-earth aura, or even the woodsy cologne) that reminded him precisely of his best friend-- who was currently head of security at Club Rapier.]

It's my pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Merlotte. Have a seat.

[And he takes his own seat as well.]

I'm glad you've considered joining the Club Rapier team. To be very honest, I am in need of someone who can take charge when I'm not around. Managing a club as busy as this one all by myself has taken a lot out of me. I don't think it's anything healthy for a normal person.

So, you said you owned and managed your own place back home. Will you tell me more about that?

[there's a moment Sam hesitates in the handshake - just a moment - but hides it well enough, the grin in full force like it never left. Coming from a place like Bon Temps, you don't usually see guys who could be called pretty as soon as handsome, but that's definitely something that applies here. Those features are surprisingly delicate.]

Thanks. [he settles in his seat, nodding as he's prompted.] Right, 'course. Well, I basically built the place from the ground up. Bought the building, made the menu, been runnin' it for over a decade. We've had our fair share of difficulties - [and more than their fair share, mostly supernatural bullshit] - but we've weathered through it like a family. That's important to me, that concept of family. 'Cause these are people you work close with, every day, all of you workin' for a common goal. If you aren't lookin' out for each other as a family would, not only are you not gonna work as cohesively, be as invested, but your place won't have any heart. And customers notice that sort of thing, I'm sure you know.

Merlotte's didn't have any food or drinks you couldn't get at other places, but what made it the cornerstone of my town was that everyone on my staff cared and looked out for each other. I nurtured the sort of environment where that could happen. That's what I'd like to bring to Club Rapier.

[This felt... well. Genesis will have to admit that he wasn't expecting this kind of approach in a person who could be his new co-manager. But, there was something about his earnestness that felt ideal. It felt like he could balance out the ruthless way Genesis tended to do business. It wasn't that he didn't look out for his hosts-- he was very charismatic towards them-- but he wasn't exactly blessed with the biggest of hearts.]

Interesting. To be honest, I was expecting someone who might boast about offering all kinds of different things to the public. But, your approach and your story are truly intriguing. I'm not much of a nurturing kind of manager, although I take care to look out for my staff's needs, but I think you will fit well into the team.

Your years of experience in the field are also notable. I don't think there's many of your kind here in the city. I've found many people with years of experience as soldiers, fighters, assassins, and the like. But only a handful had experience managing people or businesses.

How do you feel having teenagers in the staff, particularly in a business like this one? In this city, it's rather unavoidable. But they've come to this establishment out of their free will and they seem to enjoy the environment that I've built.

((ooc: If you'd like Sam to officially join the roster, I'm approving him as a bartender until he gets to Level 3 (because I can't make him a manager until he's at that IG level)! :3 Club Rapier has a Heaven or Hell event up, so Sam could start building CR.))

[Oh, there's a tougher question. Sam has the pause there, frowning as he honestly considers the question. He knows what this place is, he isn't an idiot, but...]

...I'm not gonna lie and say I like it. Hell, I think 18 is probably still too young for this sort of work. ...But they're in the same boat we are. I get that. They have to make their way in this city too, and so long as we're doin' everything we can to make sure they get a say in who they see and what they do, as long as we're here to protect them, then I can be all right with it. ...So long as I'm not expected to be with them that way.

I see. You won't have to worry about needing to be with them in the way the city wants. I built Club Rapier's concept with the idea that the hosts are fully in control. Their main job is just to provide entertaining company in the main lounge. Sex and nudity is prohibited in that area. The second floor is for the kind of services appropriate to the city, but only the staff has access to it. If a guest tries to force themselves on to one of our staff members, then they'd be in a world of trouble. Our security team is made up of experienced and proven fighters. Some of the hosts on the Club Rapier roster, particularly the older ones, have combat experience as well.

Anyone who breaks the rules or tries to hurt the staff will also have to answer to me.

[Despite Genesis' pretty face and features, his build and the way he holds himself show that he's definitely no ordinary businessman.]

Anyway, so far, I think you've got precisely what I'd like in a second manager for my establishment. However... you haven't been in the city for long. As much as I'd like to give you the position already, it's not good for the image of Club Rapier to immediately give such a high position to someone new.

If I offered you the position of bartender, though, would you still accept? While you're employed with Club Rapier, I'll ease you through some of the administrative tasks after you've gotten familiar with the rest of the staff, the clientele, and the building. So once you've gotten used to Ariel society, I can formally promote you to manager.
